In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul speaks with compassion and wisdom to those who are single, reminding them that singleness is not a second-class status but a valuable and honorable calling in the kingdom of God. In a culture that often equates worth with romantic connection and marriage, Paul affirms that those who are unmarried have a unique opportunity for undivided devotion to the Lord. Rather than seeing singleness as a limitation, Paul encourages believers to view it as an opportunity to serve God with freedom and wholeheartedness. He does not diminish the goodness of marriage but challenges the assumption that everyone must pursue it. Instead, he calls the church to recognize the dignity of every believer’s situation, trusting that God works powerfully through both married and single lives. |

In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul offers guidance and instruction on marriage and singleness. Writing to a church confused by cultural pressures, Paul affirms both marriage and singleness as good gifts from God, each with their own purpose. He encourages married believers to remain faithful to one another, honoring the covenant of marriage through mutual love, service, and commitment. Sam also points out how single, widowed and married people have unique opportunities to serve and support one another as the church family. |

In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul calls believers to handle their disputes with humility, patience, and grace, reminding them that they are not just individuals with personal rights, but members of Christ’s body, called to reflect His character. Rather than taking each other to court before unbelievers, Paul urges them to seek resolution within the family of believers. He challenges their mindset of self-interest and retaliation, pointing instead to the example of Christ, who calls His followers to lay down their lives and to a radically different way of living countercultural to the world. |

In 1 Corinthians 5 Paul calls the Corinthian church to remember their identity as God's holy people. He rebukes them not just for tolerating serious sexual sin within their community, but for being proud of their tolerance. Paul urges them to remove the unrepentant sinner to protect the church’s holiness, using the image of yeast spreading through dough. Just as God rescued Israel from Egypt, Christ, our Passover Lamb, has rescued us—so we are called to live in sincerity and truth, not in sin. Holiness matters, but so does grace, repentance, and heart-level devotion to Jesus. |

Paul writes to the Corinthians because they were acting proud and trying to show off how wise and important they were. But Paul reminds them that real wisdom isn’t about sounding smart or being better than others. God’s wisdom is totally different—it often looks weak or foolish to the world, like Jesus dying on the cross. But that was actually God’s powerful plan to save us. We can’t figure this out on our own. Only God’s Spirit can help us understand. If you believe in Jesus, it’s not because you’re clever—it’s because God showed it to you by grace. |
